CLAA Grade 09 Certificate
The Grade 09 Certificate is conferred upon students who complete the ninth-grade course of studies in the Classical Liberal Arts Academy — the first year of the Academy's classical secondary curriculum, and the first of the four annual certificates that culminate in the Academy's accredited High School Diploma.

In the ninth grade, the student takes up the studies that modern schools have abandoned: the disciplined study of Latin and Greek, by which the arts of Grammar are truly mastered; classical Arithmetic, learned as the ancients taught it; the reading of classic texts that begins the student's entrance into the great conversation of Western civilization; and the study of Sacred Scripture and Catholic doctrine, which directs all learning to its true end. Modern requirements in mathematics, sciences, and social studies are fulfilled within this course of studies — but as servants of a classical education, not substitutes for one.

Every requirement of the certificate is published, and progress is measured by demonstrated mastery: the student advances by proving that he knows each lesson, not by the passage of a school year. Families may follow their student's progress requirement by requirement, and when the full standard is met, the certificate is conferred by the Headmaster's own hand and permanently recorded in the student's academic record — one milestone marked, three remaining on the road to the diploma.
