CLAA Grade 12 Certificate

<p>The Grade 12 Certificate is conferred upon students who complete the twelfth-grade course of studies in the Classical Liberal Arts Academy — the final year of the Academy's classical secondary curriculum, and the last of the four annual certificates that culminate in the Academy's accredited High School Diploma.</p> <p>In the twelfth grade, the student's course of studies reaches its proper crown: philosophy itself. Having mastered the arts of language and ascended through the mathematical arts, he now studies the actual works of Aristotle and the classical Catholic tradition — not textbooks about philosophy, but the texts themselves — learning to reason about nature, the soul, and the moral life as the saints and scholars of Christendom learned before him. His Latin and Greek reach their maturity in the reading of the great authors; his study of Sacred Scripture and Catholic doctrine gathers every discipline to its final end, the knowledge of Wisdom and the practice of virtue. Modern requirements in mathematics, sciences, and social studies are completed within this course of studies — fulfilled, as throughout, by an education that exceeds them.</p> <p>Every requirement of the certificate is published, and progress is measured by demonstrated mastery: the student advances by proving that he knows each lesson, not by the passage of a school year. Families may follow their student's progress requirement by requirement, and when the full standard is met, the certificate is conferred by the Headmaster's own hand and permanently recorded in the student's academic record — the final milestone marked, and with it the Academy's High School Diploma earned: a classical education, complete.</p>
